No.11 is the building occupied by the agent of the Biritish American Tobacco Company at Linkiang. This building has a pretentious front but is actually only one story in height. The front wall extends fully 12 ft. to 15 ft. higer than the building actually is. In the rear is a large court yard surrounding which are numerous other building uilt in the form of a hollow square in which all of the employees of the company have quarters and of which some are used for godown and storage space for their stocks. At nights such a group of buildings are closed in entirely from the outside. All windows and doors are seculrely shuttered and barred thus providing security from robbers.
