Letter to the editor in reaction/connexion with the boycto of the Shanghai Mutual Telphone Company by managers and proprietors of Chinese restaurants and hotels in Shanghai as a protest against the increased rates. Compares the "nearly perfect" quality of telephone service in Shanghai with its bad quality in inland China - supposedly largely due to the corruption of the Ministry of Communications who managed it.
