Abstract

Reports on the erection of the largest neon sign in the world, built for the Royal Majesty's Theater in Bangkok, by the Claude Neon Lights, Fed. Inc. from Shanghai. The structure relies on the cooperation between Claude Neon and the International Engineering Company, Inc., from Bangkok. The article praises the spectacular features of the artefact. It also reports that many agencies throughout the world has phoned Claude Neon in Shanghai to request photograph of the structure for their own advertising purposes. Traces the history and accomplishement of the Claude Neon Lights, Fed. Inc in Shanghai since 1929. Recalls the advantages of neon signs (flexibility, economy, aesthetic qualities) - which account for their popularity. Identifies a few important actors in the operation :

  • Krause, W., special representative of Claude Neon Lights in Bangkok
  • Dainlevski, C.P., graduate of Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pa, USA, in charge of the Art Department, and responsible for the design of the Royal Theater sign.
Note

Note that the design of neon sign is authentified by their author's (artist's) name - emerging sense of authorship in advertising art?
