The German and the Japanese were the first advertisers of beer in Shanghai and China, as early as 1914, through the two popular brands "Lager" beer and "Asahi", respectively. Both were produced in Qingdao (青島皮酒 Qingdao pijiu). British (Guiness) and Chinese (U.B.) beers appeared later, in 1924.
