Eggs were advertised in the North China Daily News only. This suggests that Chinese consumers were not used to eating eggs. In other words, bread/bread consumptions was an exclusively forein product/custom. This further supports Carl Crow's observation that due to religious practices essentiallly (buddhism), Chinese diet was mostly vegetarian.*
