Note: These figures do not include new registrations in the French Concession of the Chinese Municipality of Shanghai. They represent only the "brand new cars" which have been licensed by the Shanghai Municipal Council for the International Settlement. They do not necessarily represent "new car sales" as it is possible that a certain number of brand new cars are put into use with old license plates owners not wishing to change their number plates when purchasing the same type of new car).
