Werner von Boltenstern (1904-1978) was born in Berlin, Germany, and supposedly earned two doctorates. He also developed a keen interest in photography and postcards. A world traveler beginning in 1929, von Boltenstern, as suggested by his occupation of photographer, is probably responsible for the photographs and negatives in the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Collection. He is, at least, responsible for collecting them.
