[The following article is specially prepared for this Journal by Mr. C. George Riedel, Research Professor in Entomology, Chungshan University, Canton. Mr. Riedel is an exerpt apiarist, and is largely responsible for the develpement of bee-culture in Canada. China, according to Mr. Riedel, possesses vast possibilities for developing apicultural enterprises, in that a wide variety of honey-producing plants are found, especially in the provinces of Kiangsu and Chekiang. It is the earnest hope of the present writer that practical interest in this subject will be aroused, leading ot the establishment of an industry which will not only improve rural economic conditions, but will also benefit public health, as honey serves as an excellent and wholesome substitute for sugar. - P.Y.
