Map of "eccentric" advertisements (banners, kiosks, clocks, illluminated and moving devices, ballons, bus stops, pillars, etc) designed by various advertising agents to "modernize" the streets of Shanghai. While most of them remained "virtual", they nonetheless reveal the advertising agents' creativity and boldness in Shanghai. This map has been drawn after the Shanghai Municipal Archives (precisely, the myriad of applications sent to the municipal authorities of the foreign settlements in Shanghai - Shanghai Municipal Council and French Administration - between 1905 and 1943).
NB The related table is provided as a reminder for the typology of outdoor artifacts established in the dissertation.
