1st sheet (Population): Number and density of advertisements per issue and per page in five samples of the Shanghai-based British newspaper North China Daily News (January 7, 1914; January 3, 1924; January 5, 1934; February 1, 1941; January 1, 1949). The blue color indicates minimal figures; the red color stands for maximal numbers.
2nd sheet (Area): Number of advertising areas in the same five samples of the North China Daily News (January 7, 1914; January 3, 1924; January 5, 1934; February 1, 1941; January 1, 1949).
This table has proved a useful tool to build the associate graphs (see "Graphs" section) that traces the evolution of the advertising population, density and areas, in the North China Daily News between 1914-1949, and to compare the British newspaper to the Chinese daily Shenbao.
