The generic type of product referred to as "cement" in English seems to have changed its Chinese name name several times between 1914 and 1949 : first designed as 水門汀 (shuimenting) in 1914, then 洋灰 (yanghui) in 1934, and finally 水泥 (shuini) in 1941-1949. Among the most famous brands are "Portland" and "Green Island Cement" (1924).
