Unexpectedly, the fear for "white hair" was not exclusive to foreign readers. Chinese elites also seemed to share it. Yet, advertisements devoted to "white hair pills" treatment remained exceptional in the Chinese newspaper. Such treatments appeared only once in 1924 in the Shenbao, along with a single advertisement for "grown hair pills".
