In an advertisement published in the Shenbao in 1949, candles production was associated to that of cigarettes, soaps and matches through the "Shanghai association of tobacco, soap, candles and match manufacturers" (上海市捲煙皂燭火柴商業同業公會 Shanghaishi juanyan zaozhu huochai shangye tongyegonghui).
