We beg to inform you that a foreigner of your Department came to us and stated that the Neon light fronting our premises contravenes regulations and should be immediately removed. The said light was bought from the Oriental Neon Light Company in May, 1931 and has been in use for 4 years. We presume that permission from your Department must have been obtained prior to the erection. There are now countless numbers of Neon Lights installed throughout the Settlement, and we do not know why this foreigner should especially point out our light as contrary to regulations. We therefore shall be obliged if you will kindly favour us with a reply.
