This map traces the multi-active British advertising agent F.C. Millington's biographical itinerary, from his birth in England (1888), to his settlement and business activities in Shanghai and Hongkong (1920-1941), to his final return and death in England (1982).
Yet this map lacks mobility. Even though each location is associated to a date - in an attempt to put into practice P. Ethington's proposal to "place the past" (Ethingon, 2007 : 465-493), as well as the equivalence made by him and Casey (Casey, 2007 : 510) between places and events - this map fails to trace actors's movements across space and time. Moreover, it loses the "sense of place" (Casey, 2007: 511) - that is, lived space - by reducing human experience to mere dots dispatched on the abstract and rational space of the map.
