The attached tables provide a basis for reconstructing the network of Consolidated National Advertising Co. (Lianhe guanggao gongsi 聯合廣告公司) one of the largest Chinese advertising agencies established prior to 1949. The data come from the local press (mostly the Shenbao, and some English-language newspapers - North-China Herald, China Weekly Review, China Press) supplemented by Who's Who. 

We focused on the six main actors involved in the agency: Lu Meiseng 陆梅僧 (manager), Lu Shoulun 陸守倫(account director), Wang Yingbin 汪英賓 (art director), Yao Junwei 姚君偉 (submanager), Zhang Zhuping 张竹平(board chairman), and Zheng Yaonan 鄭耀南 (managing director). For each of them, we listed their institutional affiliations and participation in social events. There are four main types of relations: business, education, political, social (philanthropy), teaching, and other (club membership, leisure, etc). We propose to build two-mode networks linking individuals and institutions, in order to identify shared affiliations and co-participation in events. 

We built two types of edge lists: one for a multiplex network (totalling all co-occurrences), and one for a weighted network (we kept only unique co-occurrences, and for each one, we added a weight corresponding to the total number of co-occurrences we had initially). The edge lists are made up of four to five columns:

1. source individuals
2. target institutions
3. nature of role/position
4. date of event
5. weight

The node list adds the key attributes:

• source name (individual or institution)
• type of actor (type 1) : collective or individual
• nature of institution (relation) (type 2) : business, education, political, etc.
