Needles appeared first in the North China Daily News (1934), then in the Shenbao (1941). The Chinese company Lisheng Needle Factory offered various brands and types of needle to the readers of the Shenbao in 1941: "triangle" ( 三角鋼針 sanjiao gangzhen) and "lisheng" brands of steel needles, and "lifeng" brand of "pointed/sharp" needle (利鋒尖針 lifeng jianzhen) and light/holed needle (滑光眼針 huaguang yanzhen).
